Very Difficult, Very Fun.

Graphics are slick and very crisp, always a plus. The music and sound effects are really nice; overall the game has a unique and interesting audiovisual style throughout the menus and game. The gameplay makes heavy use of the multitouch functionality of the iPhone, in a way that few other games do. There are some issues with the gameplay, such as new planets spawning in directly behind an already existing planets that contribute to the difficulty of Eliss. The sheer speed and number of planets on screen make the game extremely difficult just a few levels in. For instance I have only beaten around 15 of the 25 levels. A side effect is that you can actually make use of a second player on the same iphone to help you manage incoming planets, despite there being no official 2-player mode. There isnt much included in the package such as leaderboards or multiple modes, but the core of this game is very enjoyable and well put together. Personally I think a few small content updates could really improve the value proposition of this game, but I can only hope the developers find some spare time. I highly recommend Eliss, but if you try the demo and dont like it, theres not much more here.

Loving Eliss

This game really gets under your skin, in a great way. Unique, beautiful to see and hear, and highly addictive. It gets hard quite quickly, so get those multitouch fingers ready!

Great game but...

Need the bigger screen of the iPad to really enjoy it. I also agree with others that the difficulty gets too hard, too quickly.

Too hard

Way too hard Lvl 15 obstacles are as big as The screen

One of my all time favorite iOS games

Eliss never leaves my phone. Ive had this game for nearly 3 years now and still enjoy trying to beat the higher levels. I enjoy the challenge of the game and appreciate a tough game. Great ui, beautiful aesthetic.

waiting for more like this one

A fantastic, original game, utilizing unique iPhone touchscreen functionality to the max. Great design (contrary to the most of iPhone games there), nice ambient electronica sfx and addictive gameplay. Recommended!

Sector 24

Ive loved Eliss for a while. One day I just arrived to the sector 24 and Ive found it too too too too hard to solve - and you have to think that I was quite good with the previous sectors, all finished with the green bar at the maximum. With the sector 24 you simply ruin your game. Its not funny anymore there, its unpleasant. I think many developers just dont understand the difference between an hard-but-still-fun level and a pointless-hard level. In the first case you still enjoy your time and you wish to succeed, in the second case you get the feeling you are losing your time - and usually, as me, you stop to play that game.

Beatiful, visual poetry!

The game is fun, not too easy and graphically as stunning as minimalistic. Soundtrack is a breeze to. Just PLEEEEASE, make it Universal, playing it on the iPad would be a total bliss.

Wow

Im a graphic designer, and Im so impressed.

Desperately needs an update

This needs an update for retina graphics & iPad resolution. This would be such a blast to play on thew newer devices with higher resolution or more space for fingers. Unfortunately, vector art with pixel doubling is so very ugly.

Awesome for a little while

This game is incredible in concept, design and gameplay.... Some of the earlier levels were very challenging although It took me all of 2 days to get to sector 15. Then I was stuck on sector 15 for a week. I felt like I was making progress but would lose the level really really fast every time. Great game I just wish the levels were a little more well balanced.

Stands up well to any classic video game

No other iPhone game has held my attention for so long. It is a simple game, but challenging and fun. It is like a living piece of art- as if Warhol and Kandinski collaborated on a game.

Happy customer

2 years of playing and I finally won! I feel like I solved the sphinx riddle. I love this game. Its the best feeling of accomplishment to finish a level. I also love that you can set it between you and a friend and work collaboratively. I am so psyched for Faraway!!!

Great game, but way too hard :(

Let me say that I do love the concept of this game, and its visual and audio styles are very well executed. But the learning curve is way too steep. Too much happens too fast and I couldnt figure out how to beat the early levels without a considerable bit of frustration. Maybe in the next update you could include an Easy mode? Please? I really want to love this game but my poor brain and fingers need to be eased into it. As it stands I gotta put this aside for a while. :(

Creative and simply stunning

... But the lack of retina graphics completely destroys the game. Please update!

Challenging But Intuitive

The learning curve is steep and I must admit I didnt quite understand what to do after reading the tutorial - some more explanatory text would be helpful - but you get the hang of it fast enough when you start to play. Thereafter, the game is really a joy - slick and polished all around, from the intuitive multitouch controls to the elegant, minimalist graphics and whimsical soundtrack. Its a bargain at $1 - snap it up!

Awesome unique puzzle game

Elisss simple graphics, innovative use of touch controls, soothing music, and a unique puzzle game experience really come together perfectly. This is one of those games that is simple to learn but difficult to master. While it can be difficult, its rarely frustrating because the gameplay has very little to do with luck. All things considered, Eliss is probably my favorite indie game on the app store.

Eliss App Review

Eliss is a neat little puzzle game that takes you back to classic 90s graphics and has a simple goal in mind: planet supernovas. Although such a simple concept, all 20 sectors are drastically hard to play. How it works: You have planet spawns the give you, well, planets. You also have squeezars that require you to get planets of a certain color and size into them, causing a supernova which release stardust. You can split and combine planets of the same color but if two or more different color planets touch, your energy bar drains. You lose if you run out of energy. Collecting stardust allows you to gain life. You win by creating a certain number of supernovas. If you think that is hard enough, whirlpools with high gravity and automated suns get thrown into the mix making things even harder. Overall: Controls: 10/10 One of the best uses of the multi-touch display Ive had the honor of playing. Graphics: 8/10 Very 90s. Some may complain about their simplicity but I like it. Sounds: 8/10 The soundtrack is perfect for the game. The high-pitched noises created by selecting something in the menu are annoying. Gameplay: 10/10 Absolutely perfect but casual [puzzle] gamers will be put off by the difficulty. Replay-ability: 9/10 Some of the first levels may not boast as much attention. All in all, this scores a glorious 9/10. An outstanding work for a one-man team.

Challenging, but great fun.

This is a must have, especially while its on sale for 99 cents. It is so fun, great graphics and gameplay. Very challenging, but I do not understand how people find it so hard to grasp the concept. It is not too complicated, but takes a few runs to grasp the multiple touch maneuvers that make this game really unique. Get this, you wont regret it.

Whoa! Nintendo kinda hard

Now I love this game Ill give you fans and trolls that. But this game is unrealistically hard. It requires you to completely put the phone down and use all 8 ( or whatever ) fingers. Great! Intuitive!! But really hard.
